Shanghai Amusement Park Thumbs Down

Day 24 - Happy Valley, Songjiang, Shanghai

I finally met up with my sister’s friend’s friend, and she had tickets to Happy Valley, an amusement park in Shanghai sponsored by the ice cream company, Magnum. Right when we got in, there was a red carpet lined up for us to walk on, and ladies and gents lining the red carpet with ice cream bars in their hands. It was like walking into Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. Signs with chocolate colors and red paparazzi lights, Happy Valley seemed like THE place to be.

Turns out. Happy Valley just sucks. While I had fun on some of the rides (like the upside down twisting one), most of the crazy roller coasters were closed at night. The land themes are completely random, i.e. Ancient China but Spongebob 4D movie experience. It makes me wonder… why does this amusement park still attract people? It’s the closest thing Chinese people have to Disney in Shanghai.

By the way, Disney is planning on building in Shanghai. Good move, Disney.
