Day 37: Self-Serve Hot Pot at Carrefour

This week is a 7-day work week because of the Dragon Boat Holiday on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. I had a rough week of long nights at the office, and I just wanted to treat myself to some good food. I went to my favorite supermarket in Shanghai, Carrefour, a French-owned and popular destination for expats. There is a wonderful food court on the first floor, which has everything you have ever dreamed of. I decided to give “self-serve” hot pot. I just have 1 word. DELICIOUS. Fish balls + Tofu + Veggies = YUM
I also tried Beard Papas at Carrefour for the first time. It was the end of the day, so the vendor was trying to get rid of all the last puffs. When asking the vendor what kind of cream he was talking about, he dropped his dead in surprise that I didn’t know what he was saying. Yes, ultimate disappointment with my Chinese, but come on now! I have gotten this far! Beard Papas is the last place I expect to challenge my Chinese! Anyways, it was good, but I imagine it will taste even better when I get a fresher one.
